The Family Success Center offers programs that support children, families, and childcare providers through culturally responsive learning, navigation services, and community connection.
Our early learning and literacy programs help children grow through play, language, and culture while supporting parents as their child’s first teachers. Families participate in Somali/English story circles, parent–child literacy time, language-building activities, cultural songs and movement, early math and science play, and family workshops.
Family Support & Navigation (With Q&A Sessions)
We guide families through childcare systems, early learning enrollment, and community resources. Support includes WCCC subsidy help, forms and applications, housing and food referrals, and case-by-case assistance. We also host Q&A sessions for both families and providers to answer questions and share updates.
Cultural & Language Programs
We celebrate Somali heritage through programs that strengthen identity and preserve language. Activities include Somali language–building, cultural stories and folktales, children’s performances, heritage workshops, and intergenerational cultural circles.
Provider Training & Community Education
Childcare providers receive bilingual trainings, culturally responsive workshops, and support with WAC, MERIT, licensing, and multilingual family strategies. We also share translated DCYF updates and resources through our provider network.
Community Engagement & Events
We bring families and providers together through meaningful gatherings such as family nights, youth circles, focus groups, provider meetups, partner discussions, and large cultural events like Shah & Sheeko.
Youth Leadership & Enrichment
Our youth programs build confidence, identity, and leadership skills through discussion circles, workshops, mentoring, storytelling, cultural performances, and Somali language expression activities.
